Results summary
Based on your replies, your overall health and emotions seem to be good, but something is affecting your sleep, and there is always an underlying cause for that.
You should definitely start taking measures, as this leads to a vicious cycle:
- Insufficient sleep (among other consequences) prevents the brain from resting properly, and this affects its ability to "reset" every night, and start fresh in the morning.
- This leads to mental exhaustion, which manifests (again, among other ways) in difficulties handling emotions, especially when confronted with bad news, stressful situations, etc.
- During the day, this leads to stress hormones -cortisol, mainly- accumulating, which in turn makes falling asleep impossible.
As you see, this cycle "feeds itself", making things worse and worse.
At the same time, your immunity seems to be suffering too, which is not surprising at all, as a restorative sleep has a deep impact in keeping a healthy immune system.
Possible implications
Sleep is a vital process. Explained in a simplified way, it has two stages: deep sleep, which restores the body, and R.E.M. sleep, where brain consolidates memories, processes emotions etc. Thus, a short or interrupted sleep can impact:
- our performance at work, or in our chores.
- our body's ability to heal and improve (both injuries and maintaining / improving mucscle tone and strenght)
- the ability our immune system has to fight infections. Of course such infections, depending on their severity and frequency can have another plethora of consequences, from mere inconveniences, to being life impairing or even life-threatening.
- with time, our mood, leading to stress or depressed states.
- our ability to act safely in situations where attention is paramount, such as when driving or working in dangerous environments.
- and of course, our quality of life; who wouldn't prefer to enjoy each moment rather than having to deal with sickness and a constant feeling of drowsiness?
What we'd advise you to do
Fortunately, there are ways out of this.
There are several factors that can improve your ability to sleep: exposure to sunlight during the day, and to as much darkness as possible in the 3-4 hours prior to going to sleep -this includes all sorts of electronic devices-, maintaining a quiet environment, and ensuring your body has the nutrients and aids needed to face each day as strong as possible.
You can also do some light exercise, early in the day. You don't have to jog, or cycle. Just walk, run some errands.
And finally, we advise you to take a look at:
- our "Sleep Push" formula: in this case we give your body a strong boost of Melatonin, the sleep hormone, Magnesium and Zinc that are essential for nerve health, and extracts of different calming herbs.
- Also, we designed a formula called "Immunity Aid" which includes the most critical vitamins and minerals for the immune system, as well as extracts from several plants that have been used for decades -if not millenia in some cases- to treat infections.
